Ministry of Land Management Tells Engineers Not to Build Unauthorized Buildings

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction calls on all Cambodian engineers not to carry out construction work without the receipt of official construction permits, repair permits, dismantling permits and construction site permits because such activity would be illegal.

In a letter dated Friday, 8 April 2022, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction stated that construction work that is conducted without receiving construction permits, repair permits, dismantling permits and construction site permits from authorities or competent officials is considered illegal because construction without an architectural plan and construction component plan approved by the authorities or competent officials may violate the provisions on open space, urbanization and may affect security, public order, quality, safety, the beauty of the property, and the well-being of the building owners, construction users and the public.

The Ministry also confirmed that it will send construction inspectors to inspect crimes conducted at construction sites, ordering for action to be taken against perpetrators in accordance with the law.
